"What a pass that was from Wesley Sniejder. Arjen Robben just went straight past Sergio Ramos, who has had a torrid time of it. Superb composure and the finish is sublime, absolutely first class. It's disappointing for Spain, they had a great first half and could have gone 2-0 up, but Netherlands have been by far the better team."

Magnificent! You have to say that is magnificent!

Arjen Robben is the man for the big occasion, and he scores a sensational second to put Spain in a domain of pain. Spain lose the ball high up the field, and one pass sends Robben on his way. He tears past Sergio Ramos with ease before going around Iker Casillas, getting the ball on to his left foot and lashing in.

    FIVE one, FIVE...

"Incredible scenes inside Arena Fonte Nova as one of the best teams in football history are torn to shreds by a Netherlands team who arrived in Brazil with expectations lower than ever. The Dutch fans are in dreamland, their Spanish counterparts in pieces, some in tears. Every pass by the men in blue is being met with an "Ole!"

  • SUBSTITUTION

    Spain 1-4 Netherlands

Fernando Torres skips past Ron Vlaar and hits the deck - but it's no penalty.

Torres is perhaps lucky not to be booked, as Spain make a change, new Chelsea man Cesc Fabregas replaces David Silva.

Robin van Persie is then given a rest as Jeremain Lens takes his place.

David: Are Netherlands looking really good or are Spain not the team they were?

Shaun: Too many Spanish players past their best.

Damian: Casillas not playing for Madrid looks to be costing him. Very rusty.

Sergio Ramos curls in a free-kick just wide, bending it round the post from 25 yards. There's a few Spanish players who look bemused out there now.

"Sergio Ramos I think it was who played the ball back to Iker Casillas and I'm not sure it was great pass - he had to come and challenge for it. That one was certainly put on a plate for Robin van Persie.

"Spain have a mountain to climb now - and that's an understatement."

    Nobody expects the Spanish capitulation.

The ground in Salvador is rocking now as thousands of Dutch fans 'ole!' every pass from the boys in blue. Had David Silva buried that chance at 1-0 it may have been totally different...

Spain 1-4 Netherlands - Robin van Persie

    Posted at72 mins

Iker Casillas has had a torrid 10 minutes.

This is a real howler, an absolute shocker from the keeper. He takes a terrible touch to control a routine backpass, Robin van Persie tackles him and then slides the loose ball over the line.

Do not adjust your set. It's 4-1 to the Netherlands...

Stop it Robin! Brilliant hit again from Robin van Persie, forcing Iker Casillas into a sprawling save again.

Since the break Netherlands are up to 47% of possession. Against Spain that's practically dominant.

"Robin van Persie has fouled the goalkeeper. The referee will take some criticism for this and Spain have been very hard done by. If Louis van Gaal gets luck like this at Manchester United the fans will be delighted. How will Spain react?"

    What a game this is!

Spain have the ball in the net but the flag was up. David Silva put the ball over the line after Jasper Cillessen could not hold Pedro's header but he was offside.

    Still 20 minutes left...

  • YELLOW CARD

    Spain 1-3 Netherlands

Iker Casillas was booked for his protests to that third goal, and Robin van Persie has now gone in the book for a hefty challenge on Pedro straight from the restart.

    Calm it down lads.

Spain 1-3 Netherlands - Stefan de Vrij

    Posted at64 mins

Iker Casillas wants a foul, but the Netherlands are 3-1 up!

Casillas flapped at one in the Champions League final, and he's at it again, though Robin van Persie does have his arm up. Centre-half Stefan de Vrij, who gave away that early penalty, bundles it in.

    Is this game over?

His years in Munich have really made Arjen Robben a complete player. He's had a free role tonight, picking up space all over the place.

David: Exactly what Netherlands need to do. Just take it to Spain. Their back four can't cope with an on-form van Persie and Robben.

"Robin van Persie looks offside in that one but it was a fantastic effort. Netherlands turned over possession and outnumbered Spain at the back but Spain won't change - they will keep passing the ball.

"Will Netherlands now sit back even though they have made the better start to this second half and were in control of the game? I think they will have to because there will be a lot of defending to do now.

"Players like David Silva are picking up the ball for Spain and will create chances. As I've said before, Spain seem to be outnumbering Netherlands in midfield time after time and it will be interesting to see if Louis van Gaal reacts to that. A fantastic game. End to end stuff."
